GRAND OPENING! The 5th Wheel

Welcome to the first official blog of the "The 5th Wheel." This blog was created with the idea in mind to have a place where fans of barbershop singing can go to get news, information, gossip or media on their favorite quartets, choruses and barbershoppers within our little world of barbershop singing.

The 5th Wheel realizes we all like to know what's going on with our favorite barbershop quartets. Who's breaking up? I heard they got a new tenor? When is the Vocal Majority going to release their new album? What songs is Westminster going to sing at International? Who do you think will win International this year? These are the questions that barbershoppers find important to them and like to ask throughout the year. The 5th Wheel is designed to get the inside scoop on those questions. Consider it to be "The Drudge Report" of barbershop. We will try to keep you informed of all the news related to your favorite performers. The 5th Wheel has reporters spread all over the country to provide you the latest information.

The 5th Wheel will also include interviews, audio and video clips as well as polls and chatrooms where you can have online chats with some of your favorite barbershoppers.

While gossip and rumors are fun to read, The 5th Wheel will not publish any rumors that are outlandish or hurtful to an individual person. This isn't the Enquirer. We just want to be a source where people can come and read about what's happening in the barbershop community.

If you have any information to share with The 5th Wheel, pop us an email at the link listed on the sidebar. The 5th Wheel would love to hear from all barbershoppers and even Sweet Adelines.
The 5th Wheel was created by a few long time barbershoppers who wanted to get more news out to the public on barbershop singing. We came up with the name The 5th Wheel because it's a term used to describe someone who "butts in" on a quartet singing. A barbeshop quartet is made up of only four singers. When some tries to sing along or sing another part he becomes The 5th Wheel. We feel our job is to sort of slide in and get the info on our favorite groups which is why we name ourselves... you guessed... The 5th Wheel.
The Lead Editor of The 5th Wheel is Mike McGee. McGee has been a barbershopper since 1985. The idea for The 5th Wheel came to him in the middle of the night. McGee has a dry sense of humor thanks to watching his comedic heroes Steve Martin, Bob Hope and David Letterman. You'll find that much of the humor at The 5th Wheel will resemble some of the comedy stylings of these men.
You're probably wondering, why does McGee keep mentioning The 5th Wheel so much? That's a great question. It's because we want The 5th Wheel to be recognized on a first page search engine. In other words, when you go to Google search and type The 5th Wheel, we hope to find The 5th Wheel listed at the top. Googles suggests that in your first article you mention your name, The 5th Wheel at least 24 times! I need to mention The 5th Wheel four more times.
So, in conclusion, The 5th Wheel welcomes you to our page and hopes that The 5th Wheel will meet all your news and information need in barbershop. The 5th Wheel will hold up its integrity side of the story so that you will come back to read our articles at The 5th Wheel.
